Rules For Bidders
- Ask questions before bidding.
Seller email links can be found on every item description
page on shopgoodwill.com. If you do not receive an answer to your question
within 24 hours, please see if your email program has a spam
filter in operation which may be preventing the delivery of our e-mail
to you.
- Bidder agreement.
Only place a bid if you are ready, willing and able to honor it. Please read
the shopgoodwill.com non-paying
bidder policy before bidding. Bids are not retractable except in exceptional
circumstances such as the seller materially changing the description of the
item after your bid, making a typographical error when entering your bid,
or when you cannot authenticate the identity of the seller.
- Duplicate accounts.
Only one account per person is allowed on shopgoodwill.com. For security reasons,
duplicate accounts will be automatically closed.
- Unauthorized use of accounts.
Each account holder is responsible for purchases made on their individual
account, even if those purchases were made by someone other than yourself
who had access to your account (for example, another member of your household).
- New account restrictions.
As a protection to our buyers and sellers, the number of auctions that a new
account (less than 30 days old) can participate in at any one time is 15.
Bidding privileges will be temporarily suspended until the number of auctions
in which you are the high bidder falls below 15.
- Proxy Bidding.
To reduce the chances of being “sniped” (i.e., being outbid for
an item in the closing seconds of an auction), shopgoodwill.com employs an
automatic (a.k.a. proxy) bidding system for all auction listings except Dutch
Auctions. This system allows you to enter the maximum amount you are willing
to pay for an item with your initial bid, but your maximum bid is only placed
if and when another bidder also bids up to that amount or if your bid meets
or exceeds the Reserve Price set for that item, if applicable. Your maximum
amount is always kept confidential from other bidders and cannot be seen by
anyone else until after the auction has ended.
- Don’t sell it until
you own it. Until the item is closed, paid for and in your possession,
it cannot be cross-listed for sale at any other retail venue. Cross-listing
and unauthorized use of images and descriptions is a violation of shopgoodwill.com
policy and will result in the immediate disabling of your shopgoodwill.com
account. Additionally, the administration of the cross-listed venue will be
notified.
- Payments. Items
must be paid for within 7 days of the close of the auction. An item will be
marked “late” if payment is not received by the 7th day, and will
count toward the 3 late/unpaid items allowed before bidding privileges are
permanently disabled. All
accounts are limited to 15 open items at any one time. Accounts that exceed
15 open items will have their bidding privileges automatically suspended until
the number of open orders falls below 15. Bidding privileges will be automatically
reinstated upon payment of those open orders in excess of the 15 open orders
limit.
- Shipping. Items
are usually shipped within 5 business days from receipt of payment. Once an
auction has been paid for, the merchandise won will be shipped via one of
the following couriers: Federal Express, UPS or United States Postal Service
(USPS). Shipping services may vary from seller-to-seller so please be sure
to check the “get estimated shipping & handling link” before
bidding to make sure you are able to receive packages from the specified carrier.
- Refunds. In general,
items may be returned only with prior authorization from the seller within
seven (7) days of receipt if the merchandise was damaged during shipping or
if there was a major distortion in the description. Returns will not be accepted
without prior authorization. Please check the individual seller’s Return
Policy at the bottom of the item listing for specific details regarding their
policy.
